Barrooms and Battlefields
This series of paintings and drawings builds a narrative that loses all sense of time and place. From local watering holes to merciless battlefields to open fields of ghostly encounters my protagonists are drunk on war, whiskey, and solitariness. Crazy and alone in places often equated with camaraderie and brotherhood each is trying to survive their own little piece of existence. I feel sympathy for some of them and I loathe others; some deserve what they get and some were dealt a bad hand; a few are misanthropes; some are martyrs and the rest are big babies.
